Welcome to Reception/Year 1
Ms Esa Miss Cheetham
The Reception children follow the Early Adopter Schools EYFS Framework and access provision mainly in the Reception unit.
Curriculum coverage is provided through seven areas of learning and development. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.
There are three prime areas:
• Communication and Language
• Physical Development
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
And four specific areas:
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Arts and Design
For more information go to:
Early Adopter Schools Framework
It is important to understand that all children progress at different rates. Some aspects may appear to have been achieved more quickly than others. As children learn they build on what they have achieved, enabling them to reach their next steps.
With a planned environment in which they work and play, and through carefully planned observations and teaching of the children, we provide the opportunity for each child to develop at their own pace.
Please access Oak or Ash class page for further information.
We are looking forward to a busy year in which your child will be making the transition from Reception to Key Stage One.
The Year 1 children will be undertaking continuous provision activities for at least the Autumn Term, before moving onto a more formal curriculum.
Each week we will send home a list of suggested homework opportunities relating to the chosen class topic for that half term.
In addition, we will be sending home weekly spellings and reading books.
Please make sure that homework is completed in pencil and returned to school the following Monday.
Please click on the 'Year 1 Curriculum Map' to see what we have been doing in Beech Class this half term.
