Inside Willow & Gallery 2020 - 2021

Willow Class - Capacity

In Year 2 we have been looking at different measurements. Today we have looked at capacity and measuring liquids in ml and l. We had to make sure we were eye level with the scale and pour the water very carefully!

Willow Class - Holi

To celebrate Holi in Year 1, we used powder paint to make a colourful tribute to the Hindu festival.

Willow Class - Pointillism

In Year 2, we are looking at the beautiful artwork of J. Nath. He creates pointillism art from South India. We have been inspired by his art and we have created our own!

Willow Class - Number Bonds

We have been making the most of the beautiful, spring sunshine and taking our maths outdoors. In Year 1, we are learning our number bonds to 10 and 20.

Willow Class - Chalk Feelings
We drew sad, angry and worried faces using chalk on the playground. Then we spoke about why we didn’t like these emotions and how they changed our minds and bodies. We rubbed out the chalk and drew happy faces instead!

Willow Class

In Year 1, we have been learning about edible plants in Science.  In Design Technology, we looked at a selection of fruits and chose the tastiest fruits for our designs.  Then we carefully peeled and sliced the fruit before enjoying our healthy snack!

Willow Class - The Great Fire of London

In Year 2, we have been learning all about the Great Fire of London in 1666. Miss Lydon organised a trail of clues leading to the mystery, precious object Samuel Pepys buried when the fire started. We predicted it might be gold, his favourite teddy or even a watch. We definitely did not expect it to be... CHEESE!

Willow Class - Diwali

In Willow Class we have been celebrating Diwali – The Hindu Festival of Light!  Our dinner lady, Miss More, answered lots of questions about how she celebrates Diwali in her family. She said it is a great celebration with lots of lights, colours, games and tasty food.

In Year 1, we make clay Diya lamps. The children made their own clay pot, painted them  with beautiful, bright colours and added jewels. In Year 2, we created our own paper plate Diya lamp and decorated them with Rangoli patterns.

Willow Class - Counting to 20

The children in Year 1 have been matching numerals, objects and numicon!
