Starting Nursery - General Information

Nursery classes are led by Teacher Mr Wharton and Classroom Assistant Ms Brenner.  The Nursery Curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation.

There are a total of 52 part-time places for local children who will have turned 3 by the start of the school year 4th September.

Nursery places are available by contacting the school office (schooloffice@spis.org.uk).
Places are allocated the preceding February, and each child will be offered either a morning (08:45-11:45) or afternoon (12:20-15:20) session, 5 days a week, term-time.

Nursery places will be offered in the spring. Once you have accepted a place in nursery we will write to you inviting you to a meeting.

After attending a parental meeting you will be given a date and time for new  nursery pupils and parents to visit Nursery. This is an opportunity for both children and parents to meet staff and ask questions or discuss any concerns. It also allows children to familiarise themselves with the nursery environment.  All information regarding Nursery will be given at the parental meeting.

In September the children start in small clusters which help each child settle in and get to know their teachers. After that, they follow the main school term dates. You will receive more information about this at the parents’ meeting.

We have prepared a Nursery General Information Booklet to provide you with information about starting school; we hope you find it useful.
